Fine Arts (Sirotkin Mansion)

The branch of the Museum of Fine Arts located on the Volga embankment displays pieces of the Western art of the 15-20th cc. The neoclassical mansion, once owned by merchant Sirotkin, has been home to the museum since 1924, when the museum collection turned out to be too large to have enough room in the museum building in the Kremlin. Cosy and elaborate interiors of the mansion embellished with adorable stucco moulding on the ceilings and magnificent crystal ware of the chandeliers engross the attention – still do not miss the canvases by Giuseppe Maria Crespi, Bernardo Bellotto, and other Italian, French, Dutch, and German painters.
