Maxim Gorky Apartment Museum
Welcome to Maxim Gorky’s apartment! In days past, the prominent writer’s house was visited by Leo Tolstoy, Anton Chekhov, Ivan Bunin, Ilya Repin, and other celebrities. Gorky lived in the house between 1902-1904. There he finished his play “The Lower Depths”, received famous guests, hosted literary parties – he actually led a life of a successful writer, well-known around the world. There are eight rooms that used to be occupied by Gorky, his wife and her mother.
